Mèrida waited for the new winter queen to join her on the beach as her per invitation. She had sent her maid to deliver it, in hopes to draw out the former princess, and better learn what she was going up against. She wanted to know what made a princess betray her whole kingdom and side with another king who would seek to put her kingdom under his boot.
Lifting her hand she gestured to one of her personal guards not far from her. "Make sure Arryn does not go to far into the waters!" The made bowed at her order and then hurried off to obey. Her son was everything to her and she wanted nothing to harm him! If anything happened to him in this . . . . uncontrolled land . . . then she would have someone's head! Or perhaps even a handful of them!
This land was known for letting anyone and anything just roam it's grounds! Looking up she noticed that finally the other queen was coming to join her. Rising to a slow stand, Mèrida put on her welcoming smile, and gestured to the water knowing the other woman had to have heard her order. "A mother never stops worrying over the amount of trouble a son can get himself into." Starting off on common ground was a tactical maneuver, and one she hoped would put the other woman at ease while Mèrida tried to learn what she could from her newest enemy.

Syren had been somewhat surprised to receive an invitation for tea on the beach from the princess of the High Mountains, but knew that refusing would be an insult. Or at least, that was how she had convinced Viktor to let her come without him. She had guards with her, of course, and her young dragon followed at her heels, who had grown to about the size of a dog over the last year, a reminder of the much larger, more threatening creatures that had made their entrance so grand. The adult dragons had returned North, and would return for them at the conclusion of the conference, but they were bluffing that Syren could summon them at a moment's notice. Better to keep their potential enemies on their toes, worried about when dragon's fire might come raining down on their heads.
She had left the baby with Viktor for some daddy-son bonding time; and also because she didn't want to be distracted. She couldn't be political with his adorable baby eyes peering up at her, vying for her attention. As she drew nearer to the Princess, she spoke, and Syren let a warm smile come to her face, reminding herself to be on her guard. Politics had never been her strong suit, so she'd have to watch her actions carefully. "Something I am only too familiar with, Lady Mèrida." She answered politely.
