Viktor saw only a beast that would create problems for them; while Syren saw an intelligent, compassionate creature capable of so much more. Already she was convincing the other dragons to work with the humans instead of hunting them; but how much more easily could she do that with one of their own on her side? Already the dragon was more intelligent than Artemis, and would be a much more capable hunter than she was once he was big enough. He already practiced catching mice and rats (and sometimes even cats) to complement the meat they gave him. Not to mention how he could protect the men when they were hunting! He could be so much more useful to them than Viktor imagined, but he was too stubborn, insisting on focusing on the possibility that things would not work out.
She sighed when Viktor insisted on not fighting today, but she supposed he was right. She didn't particularly want to fight now either, and not in front of the baby. Since she wasn't letting the baby out of her sight any time soon, she supposed this would be a discussion for another day... but not a day so far in the future. She planned to introduce her two babies within the week, at the absolute latest. If Viktor weren't so stubborn, she would have called the dragon already. She had no fear whatsoever that the dragon would hurt the baby. She nodded when he asked if she was hungry. "I'm starving, actually." She answered, it had been a long time since she'd eaten anything. Standing Viktor moved toward the door. "Then I shall correct the matter." Opening it; he ordered a supper to be brought up; not caring if it was not the supper hour. He was damn well king; and he came with some benefits. Turning he walked back to his wife; and put his hands on her shoulders while looking down at the son in her arms. His son. Jaxon de Winter. De Winter had been a name he made up; and had not really owned until now.
Jaxon was the first true de Winter; and Viktor could not help but it feel pride over that. "Everything will change now; that he is here." His plans for Summer Land; the security here. He would be making sure nothing happening to his son; foremost; and pressing to regain the lands of his wife. "He will be king of both Summer and Winter land one day." Viktor would see it so.

Syren shrugged his hands off her shoulders, he might be able to disengage so quickly but she needed a moment where he wasn't touching her. She didn't move away though, so that he could look down on the baby. But his words surprised her. What was going to change? She was puzzled by what he said, his proclamation that he would be king of Summer and Winter Land. "Of course he will. I've always known that." She'd known it even before she knew she was with child. Hadn't he?
To her mind, she had never stopped being the princess of Summer Land, and according to the law, her son ought to be crowned King of Summer Land immediately, the usurper not withstanding. The throne was his by birthright alone, but if they had to take it with force, they would. Jaxon finished feeding, and Syren pulled her loose-fiting nightgown up before she took him over to one of the windows, cradling him close to keep him warm, she turned so that he was facing the view of the icy world out there. "Look, Jaxon." She leaned down to murmur in his ear softly. "All that's yours. All of it and more." She told him, before she pressed a kiss to the side of his head affectionately. [/color]

Viktor let her go when she pulled away; and just watched her as she went as far to walk all the way away from him; with their son to avoid any further conversation. Had his son not been hours old; he would have walked out of the room to give her time to cool off; but he was loathe to just leave. Not that it seemed to matter; for she had walked from him.
Syren never saw the same as him when it came to the beast. To her it was a pet; but he had lived up here for years before he even knew of her. Seen dragons kill over twenty men a year! He lost friends; good men; to them and she wondered he did not welcome her little pet! Viktor turned from watching her and sat before the fire; just staring into it. He had tried to turn their conversation from fighting; but she did not seem to be ready to let it go.
After a while; a knock came at the door. Viktor got up and went to open it; not willing to call out for them to enter when he was not armed. Taking the food from the maid; he took it to the table and set the tray down. "Come; you will need your strength." For she had used much of it today.

Syren played with Jaxon's tiny fingers and pointed things out to him out the window, even though she knew he probably couldn't understand, she felt better talking to him about nothing, forgetting about the things that had made her upset with her husband. When Viktor called her over, she turned towards him, looking at the food he had ordered brought up for her with a suddenly grumbling stomach. She went over to him and handed over the baby, before she took the seat in front of the food and dug in without hesitation.
She hadn't realized just how hungry she was, and filling her stomach felt so much better. She finished all the food they'd brought for her quickly, and felt much better after she finished. Although she still felt like she could eat more... and sleep more. But she could wait until it was actually dinner now that she'd had something to eat. She looked towards Viktor and Jaxon and smiled.
